Job Task Analysis (JTA) and Physical Ability Test (PAT) Development, Validation, and Administration Services

HMI develops and validates job-related physical ability tests and hiring/retention standards based on a comprehensive analysis of the physical components of work for specific jobs. HMI provides these services to a wide variety of public corporations and governmental agencies including law enforcement and the fire service.

HMI can provide fire departments with local validation of the IAFF/IAFC's new Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) (as recommended by the IAFF/IAFC).

Additionally, HMI can provide any organization or enterprise, public or private, a full array of on-site testing options for job applicants.

HMI's test development model is responsive to:

  • Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA)
  • Civil Rights Act of 1991 (CRA)
  • Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA)
  • Uniform Guidelines for Employee Selection Procedures.

Our work has never been successfully challenged in litigation.
